Key Tips

This itinerary offers a mix of culture, scenic beauty, and adventure, taking you through some of Morocco’s most iconic landscapes.
Morning: Departure from Marrakech
Depart from Marrakech early in the morning (around 8:00 AM) for a scenic drive to Imlil, a small village in the High Atlas Mountains. The drive takes about 1.5 to 2 hours (approximately 60 km).
The road passes through picturesque villages and offers beautiful views of the mountains and valleys.
Arrival at Imlil
Arrive in Imlil around 10:30 AM. It’s a good place to explore and acclimate to the altitude.
Check-in to a local guesthouse or mountain lodge. Some popular accommodations in Imlil include Kasbah du Toubkal and Riad Imlil Riad Jnane imlil
Explore Imlil
Take a walk around Imlil village to explore its traditional Berber culture.
Visit the Sidi Chamharouch shrine (2-3 hours’ walk), located along a scenic river path. This is a common short trek in Imlil, offering views of the surrounding mountains.
Overnight Stay
Enjoy a traditional Berber dinner at your guesthouse, and rest for the night.
Morning: Begin the Trek to Toubkal Base Camp
After a hearty breakfast, start your trek towards the Toubkal Base Camp (around 3,200 meters altitude), which takes about 5-7 hours.
You will be accompanied by a local guide and muleteers to help carry your gear (you can opt for a mule to carry your bag).
The trail follows a well-defined route through beautiful valleys, forests of juniper trees, and small Berber settlements.
Lunch
Stop for a packed lunch at a scenic point along the route or at a small shelter. The trek gets progressively more strenuous as you climb higher.
Arrival at Toubkal Base Camp(refuge toubkal)
Arrive at Base Camp by late afternoon (around 4:00 PM), and check into a simple refuge, such as the Toubkal Refuge.
Spend the evening resting and acclimatizing to the higher altitude. Enjoy a hearty dinner and prepare for the summit trek the next day.
Overnight Stay
Sleep early to prepare for the summit trek early the next morning.
Early Morning: Summit Push
Start the summit trek to Mount Toubkal (4,167 meters) at around 5:00 AM to catch the sunrise from the top.
The hike to the summit takes approximately 3-5 hours, depending on your fitness and weather conditions.
The trail is rocky, and as you ascend, it becomes steeper and more challenging. Ensure you have proper clothing, especially in the winter months, as temperatures at the summit can drop significantly.

Reach the summit by mid-morning. Enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding High Atlas Mountains, and on clear days, you can see as far as Marrakech and the Sahara Desert in the distance.
Take a moment to enjoy the accomplishment and take photos.
Descent to Base Camp
After spending some time at the summit, begin your descent back to the Base Camp, which takes about 2-3 hours.
Take a short rest and have a snack at the Base Camp.
Return to Imlil
From the Base Camp, start your descent back to Imlil around midday. The descent will take around 4-5 hours.
Arrive in Imlil by late afternoon (around 4:00 PM).
After a short rest and refreshment in Imlil, take a 1.5 to 2-hour drive back to Marrakech.
You’ll arrive in Marrakech by early evening, where you can end your trip with a nice dinner or relax.
